When should I take foreign exchange if I am planning for a foreign trip?

Foreign exchange for travel related purposes could be released up to 60 days prior to the date of travel. Hence ticket confirmed for departure is required for release of exchange. (Except in case of students traveling abroad for higher studies).

How much forex I can take in the form of Currency per trip ?
A maximum of US Dollars 2000 or its equivalent can be carried in Currency Notes per person per trip. For travel to CIS, Russia and Iran the entire foreign exchange requirement can be released in the form of Currency Notes.

How much Forex I can take if I travel to Neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar by land route ?
Authorized Dealers may release exchange to travelers proceeding to Pakistan, Bangladesh or Myanmar by land route up to the amount asked for but within the eligible limit of U.S.$ 10,000 per person provided the traveler is eligible for release of exchange under BTQ. The journey ticket need not be insisted upon. All other conditions regarding application, verification of passport for eligibility, limit for sale of foreign currency, endorsement on traveler's passport for sale of foreign exchange under BTQ, etc. remains unchanged.

What do you mean by "Business Visit" ?
Business visits sponsored by firms/companies/organisations in India, journalists deputed on short-term assignments abroad by newspapers / journals and self-employed professionals like Solicitors, Chartered Accountants, undertaking visits abroad in connection with their profession.

What is the documentation required for Business Visit?
Letter (in duplicate) from the sponsoring firm/company/ organisation [from the applicant in cases of self-employed professionals] indicating name, address, nationality, passport number of the traveler, duration and nature of visit to each country, exchange required and certifying that the expenses are being borne by them.

What do you mean by travel under "BTQ"?
Resident Indian citizens are eligible under the scheme of Basic Travel Quota(BTQ) to avail of foreign exchange up to U.S.$ 10,000 or its equivalent for undertaking one or more private visits to any country abroad (except Nepal and Bhutan) in any calendar year. Foreign nationals permanently resident in India are also eligible to avail of this quota provided they are not availing of facilities for remittance of their salary, savings etc. abroad.

What is the documentation required for BTQ?
Documentation Required:
1.Letter (in duplicate) giving particulars such as name, address, nationality, country of visit, number and date and place of issue of passport of the traveler along with the passport and containing declaration that the exchange applied for together with the exchange already availed of, if any, under the Basic Travel Quota during the calendar year does not exceed U.S.$ 10,000 or its equivalent.
2.If the applicant is a foreign national permanently resident in India he/she should give an undertaking on the application itself that he/she is permanently resident in India and is not availing of facilities for remittance of his/her salary, savings, etc. abroad in terms of the existing Exchange Control regulations.

Special Conditions:                                                                                                                                                    

Passport of the traveler should be verified by the authorized dealer to ensure his eligibility for release of exchange under BTQ.

Passport of the traveler should be endorsed with the amount of exchange sold and notation 'Basic Travel Quota' under proper authentication with stamp and date. A photocopy each of the relevant pages of the traveler's passport where personal particulars are available for example, name, address, date of birth, signature, photograph and number, date, place of issue and validity period of passport, visa for country of visit and the pages where endorsement for BTQ has been made.

In the event of cancellation of the journey and surrender of exchange to the authorized dealer, the endorsement on the passport relating to the exchange sold may be cancelled by the authorized dealer under his stamp and signature with date.


What can I do with my unspent Foreign Exchange?
Reserve Bank of India Regulations requires Indians to surrender unspent Foreign Exchange within 6 months of returning to India. Hence your unspent Forex can be either kept for later use (if travel is scheduled within six months of returning) or encashed for Indian Rupees at VKC or any authorised financial institution.

Do I get change back if I do not use the full face value of a Cheque?
Yes, you will get change back.

Are there any RBI Regulations governing changing foreign currency travellers cheques to Indian Rupees by tourists or NRIs?
Reserve Bank of India Regulations permits tourists/NRIs to freely change foreign currency travellers cheques to Indian Rupees.

Is there any specific RBI Regulation for bringing in foreign currency travellers cheques into India?
RBI has granted general permission to any person to bring foreign currency into India from any place outside India without limit. However, they have indicated certain limits in excess of which a person has to declare the foreign currency brought into the country to the Customs Authorities on arrival.

Purchasing Travellers Cheques

Where do I purchase Travellers Cheques?
You can buy Travellers Cheques at participating banks, credit unions, selected Australia Post outlets, American Express Foreign Exchange offices, and American Express Travel Service locations. Visit our Travel Service Locator to find your nearest American Express office.

Is there a fee to purchase Travellers Cheques?
Fees vary from establishment to establishment. Some establishments charge a nominal fee, while others offer Travellers Cheques fee free as a service to their customers.

Where can I use my American Express Card to purchase Travellers Cheques?
At this time, it is not possible to purchase Travellers Cheques with your American Express Card.

 

Do Travellers Cheques expire?
Travellers Cheques never expire. Unused Cheques can be saved for future trips.

Can I accept Travellers Cheques from another person?
Yes, you can accept Cheques from another individual. You must watch the person countersign the Cheque in the lower left-hand corner and compare it with the original signature. If the Travellers Cheque has already been signed in both the upper and lower corners, or if you have any questions about the validity of a Cheque, call an American Express Travellers Cheque Customer Service Centre. Where can I use Travellers Cheques?

Where do I sign Travellers Cheques?
When first purchased, Travellers Cheques must be signed in the upper left-hand corner in order to be reimbursable if lost or stolen. When the Cheques are cashed, make sure the acceptor watches while you countersign the Cheque in the lower left-hand corner.

What happens if I sign the Cheque in the wrong place, or my signatures don't match?
Acceptance of Travellers Cheques and Cheques for Two is based on the acceptor watching the customer sign the Cheque in the lower left corner, and then comparing that signature with the original signature in the upper left corner (the lower left signature on a Cheques for Two must match one of the two signatures in the upper left). The acceptor must observe the customer signing the Cheque. If the signatures are a reasonable match, the Cheque should be accepted. As always, if the acceptor is unsure, they should call an American Express Travellers Cheque Customer Service Centre.

When do I fill out the date on my Travellers Cheque?
The date, in the upper right-hand corner, should be filled out upon use, just like a personal cheque.

Is there a fee to cash Travellers Cheques?
Normally, there is no fee to cash Travellers Cheques at merchants. Some establishments, primarily outside of the U.S., may charge a small fee. There are currently over 62,000 locations around the world that accept American Express Travellers Cheques fee free. If I don't use the full face value of the Travellers Cheque, will I get change back?

What happens if I lose my Travellers Cheques?
If your Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen, contact an American Express Travellers Cheques Customer Service Centre immediately. They will provide you with step-by-step instructions for reimbursement.
To ensure your reimbursement, remember to keep a record of all the Travellers Cheques serial numbers in a safe location separate from your Cheques.

Where can I get my Cheques reimbursed?
If your Cheques are lost or stolen, you must contact an American Express Travellers Cheques Customer Service Centre immediately. They will provide you with step-by-step instructions for replacing your Cheques at your nearest Travel Service Location.

 

Cheque Serial Numbers
When you purchase Travellers Cheques, it is very important that you record the serial numbers of each Cheque. If you need to report lost or stolen Travellers Cheques, you will be asked to provide the serial number of the Cheque in question. Keep your list of serial numbers in a safe place, separate from your Cheques.

How do I get refunded for the lost Travellers Cheques?
If your Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen, the issuer will refund their face value provided

Before Loss:
You have signed each cheque at the place marked "Signature of the Holder" in non-erasable ink immediately upon receipt, but have not countersigned any of them.
You have safeguarded each cheque against loss or theft as you would a similar amount of your own cash.
You have not parted with the cheques voluntarily or as collateral security.                                                                                                                                                                                   
After Loss:
You notify the issuer within 24 hours of the loss or theft of your cheques, and the local police reporting the circumstances of the loss or theft in such details as may be reasonably required and obtain a FIR.
You supply the Purchaser's receipt copy of the sales advice (PAF), as well as acceptable proof of your identity, when making your refund claim.
You complete the appropriate refund claim documents to reasonable satisfaction and sign them in good faith.

What should be done with a deceased person's unused Travelers Cheques?
The estate beneficiary or executor should take the Travelers Cheques, the death certificate, and any other estate papers esignating the beneficiary to their, or the estates, bank, etc and approach the issuer.

What is UTI Bank Travel Currency Card?
The UTI Bank Travel Currency Card is pre-paid card product, which offers you a Convenient and secure way to carry cash. The card is protected by a PIN (Personal Identification Number). This prepaid card is available in USD, EUR and GBP, AUD , CAD currencies. The card offers you the freedom to shop anywhere in the world and provides access to the local currency at your destination at competitive market rates. Cash withdrawals can be made anytime with a secure 4 Digit Personal Identification Number at over 10,00,000 VISA/VISA Plus ATMs worldwide and the card can be used for purchases at over 13 million VISA Merchant Establishments.

Do I need to apply for the card well in advance?
NO! This card is an 'across the shelf' product and can be bought even on the day of travel, subject to the funds being provided the same day.

What is my PIN?
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique 4 digit secure number assigned to your card and known only to you. It allows you to withdraw cash from VISA/VISA Plus ATMs worldwide. This PIN can be changed (only) at any UTI Bank ATM in India.

 

Withdrawing Cash?
To withdraw cash, you would need to insert your card into the cash machine and follow the instructions on screen. Enter your PIN and indicate the amount you want to withdraw in the local currency. The requisitioned cash will be dispensed in the local currency of the country you are in.

Do I need to have a UTI Bank Account to purchase the UTI Bank Travel Currency Card?
You don't need an account relationship with UTI Bank to purchase UTI Bank Travel Currency Card. Simply walk into any UTI Bank Branch or the office of select Full Fledged Money Changers and purchase a UTI Bank Travel Currency Card over the counter.

Can this card be used in India?
No! You can use the card only for checking the balance and changing the PIN at UTI Bank ATMs. No financial transactions are allowed in India, Nepal & Bhutan.

How much money can I load onto my Travel Currency Card?
The minimum purchase value of Travel Currency Card is US $ 250, EUR 200, GBP 150, AUD 300 and CAD 300. The maximum value that can be carried on a Card at any given point will be as per the RBI Regulation in force at that time.


What are the currencies available for Travel Currency Card?
The Travel Currency Card is available in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD and CAD. You can use Travel Currency Card in any country where VISA has an acceptance. All the currency variants are a multi-currency product. This implies that you can take any of the above card and travel to any country and still get the local currency. The local currency is dispensed after applying the cross currency charges, as applicable at the time of the transaction. Your card account will be debited in the equivalent of the Base currency taken by you.

What documents do I need to submit when I purchase Travel Currency Card?
You will have to submit a copy of the following documents to UTI Bank Branch/ Money Changer Along with the application form for the UTI Bank Travel Currency Card:
Passport
Visa
A2 Form
Airline Ticket and
Form 60 (in the absence of a PAN number, form 60 will be available at the Money Changer / UTI Bank branch itself)

Will I find VISA ATMs where I am going?
There are over 10,00,000 VISA ATMs worldwide so, you can look upto the location of VISA accepting ATMs on their website www.visa.com. Unless you are traveling to someplace Very remote, it is very unlikely that you won't be able to find one.

Can I reload the card?
Incase you have exhausted the funds on the card; you can reload your card with additional funds. The easiest way to do this is to go back to the UTI Bank Branch / FFMC where you bought it. Contact the UTI Bank 24-hour Helpline 91-22-55987700 for more information.

 

Do I need to surrender the card at the branch at the time of encashment?
Yes! In case you want to encash the entire unspent amount on the card, you need to cut the card into 4 pieces at the time of surrender.

What are the debit charges in case of usage at Telephones/Petrol pumps abroad?
The Telephones/petrol pumps generally debit US$ 1 equivalent at the time of card insertion. The total amount debited is inclusive of this US $1, which will be reflected as 2 different entries in the system

What are the costs involved at the time of purchase?
Rs. 150 - Card Issuance Fee
Rs. 100 - Reload Fee

What is the maximum number of cards that can be issued?
Each individual will be entitled to purchase one card of each currency. However, an individual cannot hold more than a single card of the same currency at any given point of time. The total amount of foreign currency loaded in combination on all five cards would be as per the guidelines issued by the RBI for the specific quota under which the card is being issued. The card will be issued in the name of the Card member and may be used only by him/her for Cash withdrawals/purchases.

 

When can I use the card after purchase?
You are advised to commence the usage of the card only after a couple of hours. You are also advised to ensure that you have received the PIN and sign on the signature panel at the back of the card. It is also advisable to change the PIN and check the Balance on the card at any UTI Bank ATM before your departure from the country.

Which ATM's accept the Travel Currency Card?
All ATMs displaying the Visa / Plus symbol will accept your UTI Bank Travel Currency Card.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?
In case of loss or theft of the card please call us on one of the numbers mentioned in the User's Guide. Our Customer Service Executives will immediately block the lost card and prevent it from further use and arrange to send you a replacement card within 2 working days.

Is there a fee levied for the use of VISA ATM's?
There is a transaction fee levied at various ATM's for cash withdrawal & Balance Inquiry as per the table hereunder:

How competitive is the foreign exchange rate for withdrawals in the local currency using the UTI Bank Travel Currency Card as compared to hotels, Moneychangers or travel agents?
In comparison, UTI Bank Travel Currency Card exchange rates are definitely more favorable. The customer can be rest assured that the rate will be much finer than what is given to a retail customer by a MoneyChanger/ Forex bureau.

 

How do I withdraw the remaining cash from my card if it is too small for a cash machine to dispense?
The easiest way to cash out your card, if you don't want to reload it for your next trip, is to go to the nearest UTI Bank branch and get the remaining amount encashed.

Does the Visa ATM display the foreign exchange rate of conversion?
No, generally, ATMs display the amount withdrawn and balance available in the local currency. With this information, you can calculate the foreign exchange rate applied.

Is there any other way in which I can keep a track of my balance and the latest transactions?
You can access the Internet banking module, iConnect™ for keeping a track of your balances and the transactions done on your card. The Internet banking user id is mentioned on the sticker placed on the welcome kit. The password is enclosed in the welcome kit in a sealed envelope for security reasons. You can visit the web-site www.utibank.com. Select the "Logon to net Banking" section on the top left hand side to access the service.

Do the ATM receipts show the amount withdrawn and balance available?
Most of the VISA ATMs have the capability of displaying the amount withdrawn and balance available in the local currency.

What options should I Choose to withdraw cash from the ATM?
Generally, the options available at the ATM for cash withdrawal are "Checking", "Credit", and "Savings". You should choose the "Checking/Current" option. In case the Checking/Current option is not available, you should select the "Credit" option. The Savings option does not link to the VISA network and hence the transaction would not be successful.

 

Customer at merchant establishments should look for the following:
 · Customer should look for VISA/ VISA Electron sign at the point-of- sale merchant establishment
 · The Merchant must have an electronic point of sale card swiping terminal
 · Present your Travel Card after making purchase
 · Do not give your PIN to the merchant even if requested. PIN is not required for POS transactions
 · After a successful authorization, a hold for the transacted amount will first be placed on your account. Subsequently, your    account will be debited for the transacted amount
 · A sales slip will be generated from the electronic card-swiping terminal.
 · Check and sign the sales slip. Your signature must match the one on your Travel Card
 · Ensure your card is returned to you

Who should I contact if my card is lost or stolen?
You should call UTI Bank phone banking immediately at 91 -22 -55987700 to report the loss of your UTI Bank Travel Currency card. It is important to note that a lost Card report will be taken only after verification of your Mother's maiden name, Date of Birth, Passport no etc. You will not be liable for transactions on you Card Account (if any) from the moment you report the loss to UTI Bank. You will however, be accountable for all damages upto the time of reporting.

In countries where ATM instructions are in an unfamiliar language, whom can I approach for assistance?
English is available at most Visa ATMs. Some ATMs are also multi-lingual. However, if you require assistance, you can call the Visa GCAS numbers enumerated in the user guide.

Is there any fee for obtaining refunds on the balance on the UTI Bank Travel Currency Card?
No fee will be charged for enchasing the balances. The card rate for foreign exchange conversion will be applicable.

 

Whom should I contact, in case I have any dispute on a transaction?
In case you have a dispute on any specific transaction, you are requested to provide the details of the transaction to the e-mail id travel. currency@utibank.co.in for doing the needful.

What should I do if I lose my Travel Currency Card/ATM PIN or Internet banking password?
In case of loss of card, ATM PIN or the Internet banking password, you are requested to write to the Travel Currency Helpdesk at the e-mail id travel.currency@utibank.co.in

 

Citi Bank World Money Card       

The Citi Bank World Money card is a Prepaid Dollar/Euro/GBP denominated Card that can be used for electronic Transactions (‘Swiping on EDC machine’) at Point Of Sale terminals as well as for Cash Withdrawals at ATMs, in the local currency. (Eg: in Japan the ATM will dispense Yen)

The Citibank World Money card is accepted at over 13 Million Merchant Establishments in 130 countries around the world that display the Visa electron logo. The Card can also be used to withdraw cash in local currency of the country the employee is in. He has to simply walk in to any of 850,000 ATMs around the world that display the VISA logo.

Minimum Purchase value of the Card is US$/Euro/GBP 250 and Maximum Purchase Value is US$/Euro/GBP 10,000 (at one time).

Reload your CWM Card: This is available while you are travelling abroad and require additional funds or for your next trip abroad. Your company can reload/top up the Card on your behalf. Note: Reloads may be done only for a minimum value of $250/ Euro 250/ GBP 250.

Multiple Cards: A card member may at any point of time hold only 1 valid Citibank World Money card of a particular currency. Therefore if you purchase more than one card of the same currency, the system is equipped to identify the same and automatically cancel the earlier card that you were holding. Thus only the latest card purchased by you will be active at any given point in time.

 

How to get my Citibank World Money Card?
1.The Citibank World Money Card will be provided to all employees travelling for more than 1 month abroad, by the Travel Department.
2.Fill up a Citibank World Money Application and collect your Welcome Pack (CWM Card & ATM PIN Mailer and other relevant information enclosed within)
3.The card will be issued in an inactive state i.e. Zero Value. You are advised to commence usage of the card after email confirmation from your Travel Department.
4.Please note the USD/Euro/GBP World Money Card should be used in US, European Union and UK respectively, to avoid Foreign Exchange Conversion Rates.

Using my World Money Card – At the Visa/Visa Plus ATM
 
Locating a Visa/Visa Plus ATM
You can use your CWM Card at any ATM that has the Visa/Visa Plus Logo. In most countries Visa/Visa Plus ATMs are easily accessible 24/7.
 
However incase you wish to locate a Visa ATM close to you can refer the VISA International Web page at http://www.visa-asia.com/tips/atm_usage.shtml and access the link to the VISA ATM locator.

Points to remember while transacting at an ATM
a. Please ensure the ‘Credit Option’ is selected on the ATM during a Cash Withdrawal or Balance Enquiry.
b. ATMS have Withdrawal Limits - Withdrawals are subject to the daily transaction limits set by the Banks abroad. You may have to use another ATM (by another Bank) for Cash Withdrawals if you reach the limit at the first ATM.
c.The ATM Fee per transaction at any Visa/Visa Plus ATM is USD 2/Euro 2/GBP 1. (In certain countries Banks are allowed to charge additional Acquirer Charges over and above the above mentioned ATM Withdrawal Fee.) Please send a mail \

Using my World Money Card – At the Visa Electron Merchant Establishments
1.You can also use your CWM Card at 13.5 Million Visa Electron Merchant establishments such as Restaurants, Malls, Shops, and Hotels around the World.

2. Points to remember while using your CWM Card at a Merchant
 
a.Merchant “Physically Swipes” your CWM Card on the EDC (Electronic Data Capture) machine provided by their Bank for accepting Credit Cards to get an Approval.
b.Merchant selects the ‘Credit Sale’ option on the EDC Machine.
c.Offline Charges i.e. Manual Keypad entry of CWM Card Number, Telebookings (for Hotel/Car Rental/Airline Tickets, etc) & Internet Charges WILL NOT be authorized/approved by Citibank.) 

What is a check swipe?
A check swipe is when the merchant or the company checks the validity & limit on your card by swiping the card. This is test swipe.
At the Time of final billing, a second swipe is done to debit the actual bill amount. One must ensure that all such ‘Test swipes’, like the first, are cancelled. This is done by the merchant by swiping again and cancels the previous Swipe. Kindly ensure this is done. If you fail to do this, the said funds will be blocked from your Card A/c for upto 21 days. Use only to settle final bill.

How many digits is the APIN? Can it be changed?
The APIN is always 4 digits. It cannot be changed
 
What if I forget my ATM PIN while travelling?
It is very important not to forget the APIN. However, in such an instance you can call CitiPhone (Toll Free List), India, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for assistance. CitiPhone will issue the APIN mailer to the Temporary Address abroad that you provide them with.

What is a Telephone PIN (TPIN)?
The TPIN is a 4-digit code that you are provided, to authorize all your communication with CitiPhone. It must be used for any information / assistance on your Citibank World Money Card. It is important that you call CitiPhone, after the card is activated and obtain this PIN Number, to prevent any fraudulent activity on your card. Please note: Citiphone will accept no instructions from you in the absence of this code.
 
What is an HPIN? And how do I get one? 
An HPIN is an alphanumeric code that is used to login to their World Money Card Account via the Internet. The cardholder by can generate this by logging on to www.citibank.co.in and following the steps outlined in “View your Statements and Balances Online” (given below).
 

View your Statements and Balances ONLINE. 
The steps to be followed are: 
Step 1 – Open your web Browser and Type / Copy the following address in it http://www.citibank.co.in/
Step 2 – On the top half of the Browser you will see a space stating “Don’t have Internet Password?” Click on it.
Step 3 – A new window will pop up. Please go to the section “How to get it”
Step 4 – Go to “Citibank credit card”, select the option “Have ATM PIN”.
Step 5 - A new Screen will open up. Go to the section “How to get it”
Step 5 – Click on “Click Here”
Step 6 – A New Window will pop up.

You should call CitiPhone, India (Toll Free Numbers)immediately to report the loss of your Citibank World Money Card. It is important to note that a lost card report will be taken only after verification of your T-PIN.
 
Who should I contact for my replacement card? Is there a charge for replacement?
You should call Citiphone, India to request for a replacement card. CitiPhone can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will send you a replacement card within 72 hours. The card will be sent to you, provided, the balance on the card is not less than $15 (applicable replacement and courier charges will be debited to your card account).
 
If you are travelling, you can request for the replacement card to be sent to your current location abroad. However, this will be done only after CitiPhone

Authenticates your identity. Replacement cards will be sent only to those locations that are serviced by our regular couriers. These locations may change from time to time. Please Note: Iraq and Somalia are not currently serviced by our couriers. There is a charge for replacement of the card (refer the ‘Schedule of Charges’). What will be my liability if I lose my Citibank World Money Card?

    How does this pre-paid card work?
    Your pre-paid Travel card is loaded with funds at the time of purchase. You can use the card for cash withdrawal or for shopping at merchant outlets. With each transaction, the remaining value on the card decreases. You can continue to use your card as long as some funds remain on the card account. You can recharge the card with more funds before your next trip when you return to India.

     

    What needs to be done incase Hotels/Car Rentals take a Pre-Authorization?

    Hotels/Car Rentals before check-in/renting services etc, take a pre-auth on your card. A Pre-Auth is essentially blocking of certain amount on your card. At the time of checking out of the hotel/settling the bill, you should:
    Ask the executive to settle the final bill against the pre-auth that was taken. Example: If Pre-Auth was taken for $500, and the final bill is $300, this should be settled against the pre-auth that was taken, and the balance asked to be credited back on the card.
    Ask the executive to cancel the pre-auth (credit back the amount) that was taken and settle the bill by taking an authorization for the actual bill amount.
    In the event of the Merchant not reversing back the amount, ICICI Bank would credit back the amount immediately after 15 days(although VISA rules stipulate a period of 45 days).

    What is the Insurance Claim Process?

    Insurance Claim Process is as follows:

    Customer calls up the ICICI Bank call center and requests for the claim on Travel Card under the covers mentioned above.
    The Call is forwarded to the ICICI Lombard desk if the Travel Card was active on incident day ICICI Lombard PBO takes down the claim information from the customer. Checks based on the card number provided for the cover applicable. Forwards the information to the expert for claim validity.
    If the claim is valid, customer is forwarded the claim form along with the list of supporting documents required.
    Once the filled form and document is received from the customer, the claim value is calculated and cheque sent to customer within 30 days.

    What are the minimum and maximum amounts one can load on purchase?
    Usage of your ICICI Bank Travel Card should be in strict accordance with the regulations of the Reserve Bank of India and FEMA regulations. The card can be loaded with any amount upto USD $10,000 or equivalent in Euros in a year. The minimum loading amount is 200 ( i.e.if USD card-$200, if GBP card- £200 and so on )..Corporate travellers can load the Card upto $25,000 or itsequivalent in Euros for every business trips*.
    *The amount of load on a card should be done as per the foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 and prevailing RBI regulations.

    If I am traveling to two countries, do I get the different currencies loaded on same card?

    No. One card can be loaded with only one currency. However, you can take card in one currency and use worldwide irrespective of the currency of the country.

    Can I transact in currencies other than base currency(dollar,euros,pounds etc) using the Travel Card?

    Yes, your ICICI Bank Travel Card allows you to transact (cash withdrawal and point-of-sale transaction) in any local currency. For any currency other than the base currency, there will be an exchange rate which will be applied.

    What exchange rates are applied when a transaction is made on the card?

    For transactions done in the base currency, there is no exchange rate applicable. However, for transactions other than in the Base Currency, VISA wholesale rates apply.

    What documents are needed during purchase/recharge? During purchase of a ICICI Bank Travel Card you need to provide the following:

    Can one retain the foreign exchange on the ICICI Bank Travel Card after returning to India?
    One can retain the card only if the balance remaining on the card is less than $2000. Else the amount needs to be refunded within 90 days from the date of arrival*. In case refund is not made on time, the card would be suspended and the card holder can face legal action.*As per RBI regulations.

    How can I confirm if my card has been charged?
    You would get an SMS confirmation shortly after your card is loaded or reloaded or refunded. You may call up our customer care center also to know your balance. You can login into the website and check the transactions anytime. You can also walk into the nearest ICICI Bank ATM to check the balance on your card(balance will be displayed in rupees)


    How do I withdraw cash from an ATM using the Travel card?
    Check for VISA logos at the ATM.

    Is there a limit to the maximum amount of cash that I can withdraw?
    For Security Reasons, ATM withdrawal on your ICICI Bank Travel Card has been limited to 2000 Units per day. For Eg: If you have a USD card the ATM withdrawal limit is $2000 per day, if you have a GBP card, the Limit is £ 2000 per day and so on.
    This limit has been kept in place to prevent misuse in case you have misplaced the card

    Can an ATM be used to check the amount of funds remaining on the Travel Card?
    Most ATMs have the facility to check the balance on a card in the local currency.

     

    Are there any charges for using a VISA ATM?
    There is a charge of 1.5 Dollars for USD Card, 1.5 Euros for Euro card, 1.5 Pounds for GBP Card (and similar amount for other currencies as well) for cash withdrawal from ATMs. The charges for checking the balance through the ATM is 0.5 Dollars for USD Card, 0.5 Euros for Euro Card, 0.5 Pounds for GBP Card (and similar amount for other currencies as well)*.

    Does an ATM receipt show the amount withdrawn and the balance available?
    Some ATMs can show these two figures.

    Do all ATMs show the instructions in English?
    Most VISA ATMs support English. In case the VISA ATM does not support English, call our customer care center.

    Will the ATM display foreign exchange rates that one can use before withdrawing cash?
    No. Post withdrawal of cash, with the figures for amount withdrawn and balance available, it is possible to arrive at the exchange rate charged.

    What if I forget the ATM PIN of the ICICI Bank Travel Card?
    The card member should not forget the ATM PIN of his ICICI Bank Travel Card. In case the ATM-PIN is forgotten, call the customer care center and request for New ATM Pin. New ATM Pin would be read out over the phone.

    How can I apply for a refund on the card?
    To apply for a refund, please visit your nearest ICICI Bank branch or your money changer. You need to fill up an Refund Form and provide copies of your ICICI Bank Travel Card and your passport. The funds will be returned to you immediately.

     

    How long does it take to get the refund?
    You can get the refund immediately upto the amount of balance remaining on your ICICI Bank Travel Card. In case there are some unsettled transactions, there could be an additional delay of upto 7 days.

    How is the ICICI Bank Travel Card secured against unauthorized cash withdrawals from ATMs?
    Your travel card comes with advanced security features. To withdraw cash from a VISA ATM using the pre-paid card, you need the confidential ATM-PIN which is available only to you. The ATM-PIN is issued to you at the time of card purchase. Remember the 4 digit PIN number and destroy the document. Do not write in on the card. Your card would be blocked after 4 unsuccessful PIN attempts. This ensures that anyone having access to your card cannot use the card.

    How is the ICICI Bank Travel Card secured against unauthorized payments at merchant outlets withdrawals from ATMs?
    Transactions at merchant outlets at protected by your signature. The merchant has to match the signature on the chargeslip (produced by the Electronic Data Capture machine at the time of purchase) with the signature on the signature panel on the reverse of the card. Ensure that you sign on the signature panel immediately on getting the card.

    What should one do to prevent unauthorized usage in case I lose the card?
    The card comes with zero lost card liability after its loss being reported. Immediately report the loss of the card by calling up the customer care center. We would block the card from any further usage. On request, the Replacement Card can then be activates. In case the Replacement Card is also lost, a replacement card would be shipped to an address of your choice.

    What security features are implemented to prevent unauthorized usage of replacement cards before it reaches you?
    The replacement card would be couriered to you along with its ATM-PIN by courier. The card goes in a deactivated stage. The card can be activated only when you call up our customer care center and confirm your receipt of the card in proper condition. Without this verification, the card would not be enabled for transactions.

    Do I have to pay for emergency medical and travel assistance services?
    Your ICICI Bank Travel Card comes with complimentary emergency assistance services. These services are purely on referral and arrangement basis. However, you would have to pay for any third party expenses involved in providing the services. The provision of financial guarantees by International SOS is subject to International SOS first securing payment from you through your credit card or from the funds from the your family. International SOS shall ensure that Users who call in for the services are duly informed that they (the Users) are liable for all third party expenses.
